Moreno, Chua take path to political reconciliation

After months of public political squabbles, Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso and 3rd District Rep. Joel Chua have decided to bury the hatchet after a meeting over the weekend at the Manila City Hall, which lasted for over an hour.

It was learned that a common friend had talked to both men and set up the meeting at around 2 p.m. on Saturday at the mayor’s office.

” For the peace of mind of our district, we deemed it necessary to talk and set aside our differences. We will work together for the children of Manila. We let bygones be bygones,” Chua said. He and Moreno shook hands and moved on.

Also present at the meeting were other Manila 1st District Rep. Ernix Dionisio and 5th District Rep. Irwin Tieng, who also joined the conversation.

In a social media post, Moreno said the three lawmakers presented their respective initiatives for their district and he was grateful for it.

Chua and Moreno expressed commitment to deliver the best possible services for the residents of Manila through collaborative efforts between the national and local governments.

Both politicians were longtime allies, but parted ways when Chua ran under the ticket of then Mayor Honey Lacuna during the May 2025 elections. Chua won a second term.
