The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned of heavy rains in at least 11 provinces on Sunday amid prevailing weather disturbances attributed to the low pressure area and the southwest monsoon or ‘habagat.’
In an weather advisory, PAGASA placed Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate and Northern Samar under a code ‘yellow’ heavy rainfall warning, predicting 50 to 100 millimeters of rains, due to the LPA. This scenario will likely persist until Monday, September 1.
The provinces of Occidental Mindoro, Antique, and Negros Occidental were also placed under similar circumstances because of ‘habagat.’ The same scenario is expected over Romblon and Aklan by Monday.
PAGASA advised the public to exercise caution amid possible localized flooding and landslides in highly susceptible areas because of the rainy weather.
