DTI, other agencies team up to seize illegal vape products

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said Friday it is working with the Bureau of Customs (BOC), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Philippine National Police (PNP) to ensure the proper seizure, disposal and condemnation of illicit vape products.

Seized vape products are being disposed of through a DENR-accredited treatment, storage and disposal (TSD) facility, with additional batches already undergoing destruction.

The measures highlight the government’s strengthened inter-agency enforcement against illegal products in the market.

The DTI said it is enforcing Republic Act No. 11900, or the Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act, its implementing rules and regulations, and other relevant trade and safety laws.

Products cleared for condemnation by the concerned agencies will be destroyed, while manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers found selling non-compliant vape products will face immediate regulatory action and administrative penalties, it said.
