PBSP, ePLDT tap cloud technology to cut poverty

The Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), the country’s largest business-led NGO, is teaming up with PLDT Group’s ICT subsidiary, ePLDT, to use cloud technology to reduce poverty in today’s highly digitalized world.

PBSP said that by adopting ePLDT’s cloud technology, it aims to enhance its business continuity framework and ensure that critical information remains secure and accessible, even during disruptions.

Under the partnership, ePLDT deployed Alibaba Cloud storage and backup solutions to help PBSP securely and efficiently manage large volumes of data and maintain workflows necessary for creating sustainable solutions to societal problems in health, education, environment, livelihood, and enterprise development.

The shift to a cloud-first infrastructure also puts PBSP in a better position to respond quickly to the needs of marginalized communities, especially during emergencies and disasters when access to reliable data is crucial for saving lives.

“Whether delivering healthcare in remote areas, responding to natural disasters, supporting schools, or enabling livelihood programs, we must be able to work without disruption,” said Elvin Ivan Uy, PBSP executive director.
