The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FFCCCII), led by its president Victor Lim attended the Grand Tourism Night ceremony organized by the Manila Overseas Press Club (MOPC) on Aug. 15, 2025 at the New World Hotel in Makati City.
The event aimed to highlight the crucial role of tourism in the economy.
First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos affirmed the administration’s commitment to the tourism sector, saying that the government is trying hard to invest in tourism related software and hardware.
She said the administration views tourism as a major economic driving power because it contributes 8.9 percent of the country’s GDP.
Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said the industry’s success is not accidental but a result of government proactive intervention.
She said the tourism industry provides jobs for an estimated seven million people.
The seminar also included an awards ceremony where the MOPC recognized 16 tourism-related companies for their contributions to promoting the tourism industry.
