The Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) confirmed the seven films vying to become the country’s official submission to the 2026 Academy Awards.
On Monday, Aug. 25, FAP released the list of films being considered as an entry for the 2026 Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category. The contenders include Antoinette Jadaone’s “Sunshine,” Lav Diaz’s “Magellan,” Baby Ruth Villarama’s “Food Delivery,” Cathy Garcia-Sampana’s “Hello, Love, Again,” Zig Dulay’s “Green Bones,” Petersen Vargas’ “Some Nights I Feel Like Walking,” and King Palisoc’s “Song of the Fireflies.”
FAP director-general Paolo Villaluna praised the lineup, saying each film reflects “diverse cinematic voices” with potential for universal appeal.
“Whichever feature we end up sending to the Oscars will be one of which any Pinoy can be proud,” he said.
The selection committee, composed of directors and industry leaders led by Film Development Council chairman Jose Javier Reyes, will announce the chosen entry on Sept. 11 during the Philippine Film Industry Month gala night.
The Philippines has yet to secure a nomination in the Oscars’ Best International Feature Film category, though last year’s submission, “Iti Mapukpukaw,” came close to making the shortlist.
