Comedians MC Calaquian and Lassy Marquez made their return to “It’s Showtime” on Thursday, Aug. 21, more than two months after their absence from the noontime variety program.
The pair joined the other hosts in the show’s opening number.
Prior to their appearance, “It’s Showtime” took to its social media accounts to announce their returnb.
“Babalik na silang dalawa sa barangay ‘It’s Showtime,’” it wrote.
Speculations about MC and Lassy’s absence surfaced in June after they stopped appearing on the ABS-CBN and GMA-7 simulcast show. Talk grew following Vice Ganda’s May vlog where the comedian criticized MC for being inconsiderate during a vacation in Palawan, sparking sympathy for MC and backlash toward Vice.
The two were later spotted at Vice and Regine Velasquez’s “Super Divas” concert on Aug. 8 and 9 at the Araneta Coliseum. Onstage, Vice exchanged jokes with the pair, hinting that tensions had been resolved.
Thirteen days after the concert, MC and Lassy officially rejoined “It’s Showtime,” ending months of speculation about their status on the show.
