Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, a 1968 Political Science graduate and former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, received the UPAA Most Distinguished Alumni Award.

The Distinguished Achievement Awards went to five alumni, among them Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla and Associate Justice Jhosep Lopez.

Meanwhile, the Distinguished Alumni Awards went to Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, Anti-Red Tape Authority Secretary Ernesto Perez, Court of Appeals Associate Justice Angelene Mary Quimpo-Sale, and Justice Undersecretary Jesse Hermogenes Andres.

The UPAA Presidential Awards were presented to Solicitor General Darlene Marie Basco Berberabe, former Baguio City Rep. Marquez Go, and Ambassador Rosario Gonzales-Manalo.

“A UP education is not a crown worn for oneself, but a torch passed to light the way for others. Integrity can survive the temptations of power, service can thrive even in the leanest of times, and leadership finds its truest measure in the lives it has lifted. May tonight remind us that the true reward of leadership is in the widening of the path for those who will come after, ” said UPAA president and alumni regent, Robert Aranton.
