Police nabbed two high-value targets and seized some P13.6 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation in Zamboanga City Friday night.
Lt. Col. Abell Laborte, officer-in-charge of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit–Zamboanga Peninsula, said the suspects — identified only as alias “Ungod,” 45, of Barangay Baliwasan, and alias “Choy,” 23, of Barangay San Roque — were arrested around 10:30 p.m. near a laundry shop in Baliwasan.
A third cohort, alias “Marsata,” evaded arrest and is now the subject of a follow-up operation.
Recovered from the suspects were two kilos of suspected shabu, marked money, several ID cards, and a mobile phone. The two are now detained for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Police noted that the P13.6-million haul marks the city’s largest drug bust this month. On August 7, authorities had earlier confiscated P1.7 million worth of shabu from a 22-year-old suspect in Barangay Guiwan.
