Cayetano lauds PNP for two buy-bust ops

Mayor Lani Cayetano issued a stern warning to all criminals that illegal drugs and illegal gambling will not be tolerated in Taguig as she praised the Philippine National Police for two consecutive buy-bust operations that netted nearly P3 million worth of suspected shabu in less than a week.

On August 12, 2025, operatives of the Southern Police District–Drug Enforcement Unit (SPD–DDEU), in coordination with Taguig City Police Sub-Station 6, arrested four high-value individuals in a buy-bust in Brgy. South Signal.

The suspects were found with approximately 250 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.7 million, along with buy-bust money, a red Mazda 2, and other paraphernalia.

Just four days earlier, on August 8, 2025, police in Brgy. Lower Bicutan confiscated P1.36 million worth of suspected shabu from three other high-value suspects.

“These are not minor arrests. These are high-value drug personalities who have been preying on our communities. I thank the PNP, especially the Southern Police District and the Taguig City Police, for their swift action and dedication. If you deal drugs in Taguig, you will be caught, prosecuted, and face the full weight of the law,” the mayor said.

“Illegal drugs and gambling destroy lives, tear apart families, and put our neighborhoods at risk. We will not allow that to happen in Taguig. Our police will continue aggressive enforcement, and the city will sustain mandatory random drug testing in government offices and high-risk sectors,” Cayetano added.
