‘KPop Demon Hunters’ OST ‘Golden’ hits No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

“Golden,” the breakout track from Netflix’s animated hit KPop Demon Hunters, claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week of Aug. 16.

On Tuesday, Aug. 12, the song ended the seven-week reign of Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” which had held the top position for nearly four times as long.

Performed in the film by the fictional girl group HUNTR/X and voiced by Ejae, Rei Ami, and Audrey Nuna, “Golden” is the ninth K-pop song to top the chart, joining six hits by BTS, Jungkook’s “Seven” and Jimin’s “Like Crazy.”

It is also the first time a K-pop track sung by female vocalists has reached No. 1, and the first No. 1 by fictional characters since “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from Encanto in 2022. It is also the first chart-topper by an all-women group of at least three members since Destiny’s Child’s “Bootylicious” in August 2001.

Other tracks from the film continue to chart, with rival group Saja Boys’ “Your Idol” at No. 8 and “Soda Pop” at No. 14. In the Philippines, “Golden” remains No. 2 on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100, behind Cup of Joe’s “Multo,” now on its 27th week.
