India’s Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will expand its operations in the Philippines over the next three years, deploying its expertise in 4G and 5G networks to bolster the country’s digital infrastructure, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said Thursday.
The move is part of a broader push by the Tata Group to invest in the Philippines’ information technology, aviation and hospitality sectors. The expansion is expected to create thousands of jobs and strengthen regional connectivity, the DTI said.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and senior cabinet officials discussed the plan with Tata Group executives during a state visit to India.
TCS, the group’s flagship IT arm, will expand its operations in Metro Manila and other key areas. It will partner with NOW Corp. to develop “trusted networks, sovereign cloud solutions, and cyber-defense systems,” according to a statement. The partnership also aims to “promote financial inclusion and deliver citizen-centric services.”
TCS employs more than 6,000 Filipinos in high-value IT and business process services.
The Tata Group’s Air India will begin a five-times-weekly direct flight between Delhi and Manila on Oct. 1, which the company says will open “new avenues for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.”
The group’s hospitality arm, Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), is also exploring ventures in Metro Manila and other prime destinations to position the Philippines as a “high-value sustainable tourism hub.”
Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said Tata’s expansion affirms investor confidence in the administration’s “Bagong Pilipinas” vision.
“With TCS driving our digital future and Air India creating new economic bridges, these investments are a clear sign that the Philippines is on the right path toward inclusive and innovation-driven growth,” Roque said.
