The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday evening announced that Typhoon “Gorio” (Podul) exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
The state weather bureau also lifted all tropical cyclone wind signals, previously hoisted above Itbayat, Batanes (Signal No. 2) and the rest of the province (Signal No. 1).
According to PAGASA’s 5 p.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, Gorio has slightly weakened and is now outside the PAR, with its center last estimated 325 kilometers northwest of Itbayat.
It was moving west-northwestward at 25 kilometers per hour (kph).
Meanwhile, the typhoon had maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph.
Gorio is expected to continue to weaken as it interacts with the terrain of Taiwan and mainland China.
