Four armed, motorcycle-riding men staged a daring holdup in an eatery in Sampaloc, Manila the other night, sending customers running in all directions in panic.
The eatery’s owner was held at gunpoint and robbed of jewelry and valuables worth an estimated ₱200,000. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
Witnesses said the eatery, which had extended seating onto the sidewalk, was busy with customers when two motorcycles arrived, each carrying two armed men. The suspects immediately pointed guns at the male owner and announced the holdup.
Terrified customers fled as the crime unfolded. In less than a minute, the suspects took the valuables and fled the scene without resistance.
Barangay officials later admitted that their local watchmen, armed only with sticks, were helpless against the gun-wielding suspects. Authorities are now investigating and reviewing CCTV footage from nearby establishments.
