Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Sharon Garin (second from left) joins a group celebrating the inauguration on Aug. 1 of the 22-megawatt (MW) Tanawon geothermal power plant at the Bacon-Manito (BacMan) geothermal complex of Energy Development Corp. (EDC) in Sorsogon City. EDC is a subsidiary of Lopez-led clean energy provider First Gen Corporation. The P7-billion Tanawon geothermal facility is one of seven growth projects that First Gen and EDC are pursuing together to help the country attain energy security.
