Both PH representatives play for a shot at the elusive MSC title for the country, as Team Liquid PH faces ONIC ID again for a revenge match, while ONIC PH is hindered by a tall obstacle to the finals in Selangor Red Giants OG Esports at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh.
Filipino fans and spectators were on the edge of their seats as ONIC PH went through a mentally exhausting and cruel 3-1 series win against Team Spirit on Thursday night.
After losing miserably in Game 1, ONIC PH remarkably bounced back in the next games, showing their impressive grit in the over 29 minute-long Game 3.
Grant “Kelra” Pillas loaded his guns to shoot down Team Spirit’s hopes and eliminate them from the tournament. But for The Gold Standard, there’s a lot more bullets he’s yet to shoot.
“Hindi pa ito ‘yun. Hindi pa maganda ‘yung performance ko ngayon para sa akin,” he said.
During the post-match press conference, King “K1NGKONG” Perez also made sure to put the world on notice, after they beat Team Spirit, the team who picked them as opponents.
“For Kidbomba, thank you for choosing us. I hope you regret it.”
Meanwhile, Team Liquid PH booked their semifinal match after sweeping Aurora Türkiye, 3-0, on Wednesday (July 30).
With the results going the way most people anticipated, Alston “Sanji” Pabico revealed how surprised he actually was with how the series turned out.
“Hindi ko expect na ganu’n ‘yung laro niya kanina kasi feeling ko may ibubuga pa dapat siya. Feel ko kasi na sobrang nasanay lang sila na may Selena sila tapos may hero si Tienzy,” he said.
Both teams are set to play on Friday night, with ONIC PH against SRG.OG in the first match and the Team Liquid PH rematch against ONIC ID in the second.
