PDIC issues new rules on deposit insurance ads, signage

PDIC issues new regulations requiring Philippine banks to update advertisements and in-bank displays to reflect the increased maximum deposit insurance coverage of P1 million.

State-run Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. (PDIC) said it issued new regulations requiring banks to update their advertisements and in-bank displays to reflect the increased maximum deposit insurance coverage (MDIC) of P1 million per depositor.

The new rules, outlined in Regulatory Issuance (RI) No. 2025-01, took effect on July 15, 2025. This follows the increase in the MDIC to P1 million per depositor, per bank, which became effective on March 15, 2025.

RI No. 2025-01 mandates that banks use the new PDIC insurance statement – “Deposits are insured by PDIC up to P1 Million per depositor.” – in all general and deposit-product related advertisements.

This covers a wide range of platforms, including video and audio advertising, print and digital publications, out-of-home advertising and social media.

PDIC also redesigned its official decals and standees, which are required to be displayed in all bank premises and official channels.

These redesigned materials, prominently featuring the new MDIC and updated with PDIC’s brand colors, will be provided free of charge to all banks nationwide.

The new RI specifies guidelines for the use of the PDIC seal/logo and display requirements for the signages. Physical decals should be continuously posted at the entrance of a bank’s head office, branches and branch-lite units, while standees are required to be prominently displayed at all tellers’ and new accounts counters, it said.

Until the new physical decals and standees are available, PDIC Memorandum No. 2025-01, issued on Feb. 27, 2025, instructs banks to display a “Notice to Depositors” regarding the new MDIC. This notice is available for download on the PDIC website (www.pdic.gov.ph).

The new regulations require banks to prominently display a digital decal on their official websites, digital channels, ATMs and other similar machines.
