The Department of Tourism and Department of Social Welfare and Development are providing relief to nearly 5,000 tourism workers affected by recent tropical storms and monsoon rains. Meanwhile, some popular tourist destinations are beginning to reopen.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said they are providing relief to frontline tourism workers affected by a series of recent weather disturbances.
About 4,800 tourism workers across several regions have been impacted by three successive tropical storms and the southwest monsoon as of July 26, 2025, according to reports from the DOT’s regional offices.
The affected workers are located in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Negros Island Region and Western Visayas.
“The livelihoods of our frontline tourism workers have been deeply impacted, resulting in loss of income and heightened insecurity for their families,” DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said, underscoring the importance of targeted assistance.
The DOT and DSWD said they distributed food packs and reminded affected families and tourists to use the 24/7 Tourist Assistance Call Center (TACC) at 151-TOUR (151-8687).
Regional offices are closely monitoring conditions on the ground, particularly in areas hardest hit by the storms and monsoon rains.
Some areas severely affected by the weather disturbances began lifting suspensions on tourism activities starting July 26. Travelers are advised to stay updated through announcements from their respective local government units.
In Metro Manila, all Intramuros-managed sites, including Fort Santiago, Casa Manila Museum, Baluarte de San Diego, Centro de Turismo Intramuros and Museo de Intramuros have resumed normal operations.
In the Cordilleras, Sagada in Mountain Province has reopened for limited tourism, including outdoor tours and site-specific spelunking.
Abra has also resumed activities at select destinations, including Lusuac Spring, Gaco View Deck and Ponpon Foot Bridge. In Ifugao, tourism activities in Mayoyao resumed on July 27.
