Pinoy athletics masters deliver 27 golds at Singapore Int’l meet

Team Philippines delivered a dominant performance at the Singapore Masters International Athletics Championships 2025, raking in an impressive 27 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals. The Filipino athletes showcased exceptional skill and determination across track and field events, cementing their place among the tournament’s top contenders.

One of the standout performers was Brenda Zinampan, who swept multiple events in the W45 category. She bagged gold medals in the pole vault, long jump, 100m, 80m hurdles, and 400m hurdles. Zinampan also anchored the gold-winning 4x100m W35 relay team, adding another feather to her cap.

Veteran sprinter Marichu Gaston captured triple gold in the W55 category, topping the 100m, 200m, and 400m events. She also joined Zinampan and teammates Riezel Buenaventura and Drolly Claravall to claim gold in the 4x100m W35 relay.

In the field events, Maricris Gammag reigned supreme in the W40 category, winning shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw. On the track, Edward Kho showcased his dominance in the M50 division by clinching gold in both the 400m and 400m hurdles, and further contributed to the team’s success as part of the victorious 4x400m M45 relay team.

The gold medalists from Team Philippines include Edward Obiena (discus throw M55), Judith Staples (discus throw W55), Maricris Gammag (discus throw, shot put, javelin throw W40), Jose Enrico Suguitan (pole vault M50), Brenda Zinampan (pole vault, long jump, 100m, 80mH, 400mH W45), Riezel Buenaventura (pole vault W35), Benigno Marayag (triple jump, long jump M35), Emmanuel Septimo (100m M60), Marichu Gaston (100m, 200m, 400m W55), Edward Kho (400m, 400mH M50), Edgardo Pedregosa (800m, 1500m M65), the 4x100m W35 relay team of Buenaventura, Gaston, Claravall, and Zinampan, and the 4x400m M45 relay team led by Kho.

Filipino athletes also secured 8 silver and 7 bronze medals in various disciplines, with notable performances from Drolly Claravall (W55 throws), Emmanuel Septimo (M60 triple jump), and Usman Muloc (M65 javelin and long jump).
