Karina Bautista’s portrayal of Ara in Si Sol at si Luna is earning attention for her quiet but layered presence in the Puregold Channel series.
In Episode 8, Ara finally comes face-to-face with Luna (Jane Oineza), Sol’s current love interest. The exchange is polite, but the tension is unmistakable. Luna notices it immediately and later asks Sol, “What’s her issue?” The answer isn’t simple.
Ara could have easily been written as a typical kontrabida, the jealous ex or the clingy girl from the past. But the show gives her more space to be real. She’s not out for revenge. She’s not cruel. She’s a student aiming for Summa Cum Laude, a daughter living under pressure, and a girl trying to hold on to a connection that once felt like home.
“She’s extra, but she’s also brave,” Karina says of her character. “She wants love, but she also wants her parents’ approval.”

In contrast to the high-emotion style common in teleseryes, Ara is more controlled. Her heartbreak shows up in pauses, long stares, and quiet moments rather than outbursts. She doesn’t cry. She remembers.
As Sol and Luna’s romance builds with rooftop conversations, massages in the bleachers, and an elevator kiss, Ara’s return in Episode 8 adds a new weight to the story. She isn’t just a reminder of Sol’s past. She’s a person with her own wounds, still figuring things out.
Episode 9, Missing Person: Luna, premieres Saturday, July 26, on the Puregold Channel on YouTube.
Viewers are now asking if Sol and Luna’s kiss will change everything. And what will Ara do after seeing the Luna she’s only heard about?
New episodes of Si Sol at si Luna drop every Saturday at 7:00 p.m. on YouTube.
