Eala’s world tennis ranking drops to 69th from no. 56

Alexandra Eala’s world ranking has dropped from 56th to 69th this week.

Eala’s fall by 13 notches is considered the biggest drop among top 100 players in the Women’s Tennis Association over the past seven days.

The drop came after Eala took a three-week break in the Philippines to be with her family, supporters, fans and sponsors BPI and Globe Telecom.

But Eala hopes to get back on track in the second half of year in the coming competitions of the WTA Tour.

Aryna Sabalenka kept a big lead on the top of the WTA rankings and was for the 39th consecutive week the world’s no. 1.

Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula kept their positions as the world’s no. 2, 3 and 4 netters, respectively.

Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu experienced the biggest leap in the rankings this week as she went up by 28 to world no. 82.

Eala is set to make her debut in the 2025 Canadian Open championships, which start this weekend, with the women’s event taking place at the IGA Stadium in Montreal.

“There’s a lot of big tournaments lined up. I will be in these tournaments before I go to the US Open. Afterwards, I hope to go around Asia. I have added Asia to my list,” said Eala.
