DTI freezes prices in Quezon City, other areas hit by monsoon rain

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has ordered a price freeze on basic necessities in Quezon City and other areas affected by heavy rainfall and severe weather conditions caused by the southwest monsoon.

The price freeze in Quezon City will be in effect from July 22 to Sept. 20, 2025.

The agency also imposed a price freeze in Malabon City; San Mateo, Rizal; and Paniqui, Tarlac.

Previously, the DTI enforced price freezes in Sebaste and Barbaza, Antique; Cavite province; Calumpit and Balagtas, Bulacan; and Roxas, Palawan.

The DTI reminded businesses in these areas to comply with the price freeze. The order will be automatically terminated after 60 days unless lifted earlier by the President, it said.

It encouraged consumers to report retailers, distributors and manufacturers found selling basic necessities above their prevailing prices.
