The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is now closely monitoring three low pressure areas (LPAs)—two of which already entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) and may develop into tropical depressions.
As of 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, PAGASA said the LPA located 1,140 kilometers east of Central Luzon has a “high potential” of turning into a full-blown cyclone that will be named ‘Dante’ in the next 24 hours.
The second LPA located 225 kilometers east of southeast Basco, Batanes has a medium chance of forming into another tropical depression, which will be called ‘Emong.’
The third LPA, meanwhile, is just outside of PAR at the moment but also has a medium chance of developing into a level one cyclone that will then be named ‘Fabian.’ It was last estimated at 2,850 km east of Eastern Visayas.
Based on its 11:00 a.m. bulletin, the southwest monsoon or ‘habagat’ remains the dominant system affecting weather conditions in the Philippines.
Rainfall forecast of up to 200 millimeters was maintained over Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Cavite Batangas and Occidental Mindoro. Pangasinan, Benguet, Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna and Rizal are likely to experience rains between 100 to 200 mm.
The following provinces, on the other hand, may expect a rainfall outlook of between 50 to 100 mm: Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Abra, Nueva Ecija, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental.
