The Philippines’ finest cue artists are gearing up for the sport’s most prestigious battleground as they compete in the 2025 World Pool Championship, taking place from July 21 to 26 at the Green Halls in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Led by former world champion Carlo Biado, 2023 semifinalist Johann Chua, and multi-titled legend Rubilen Amit, a strong Filipino contingent will challenge the world’s best in the richest and most anticipated nine-ball tournament of the year.
Joining the powerhouse trio are top-tier players James Aranas, Bernie Regalario, Jefrey Roda, Patric Gonzales, and AJ Manas, forming a deep and experienced national squad determined to bring the trophy—and pride—back to the Philippines.

Biado, who captured the title in 2017, is eyeing a comeback for the ages. Chua, known for his gritty shot-making and composure under pressure, is hoping to surpass last year’s impressive semifinal run. Amit, the most decorated Filipina in the sport, brings her elite skill and poise to the world stage once again.
These athletes will be among 128 elite players from over 40 countries vying for a share of the $1 million prize pool, with a staggering $250,000 top prize awaiting the champion.
Cignal TV will bring the action home, broadcasting the tournament live on One Sports+ and Pilipinas Live, with replays available on One Sports—allowing Filipino fans to follow every break, bank, and brilliant shot.
Filipino cue artists have a proud tradition in this event, with Efren “Bata” Reyes (1999), Ronnie Alcano (2006), Francisco “Django” Bustamante (2010), and Biado (2017) all having hoisted the championship trophy in previous years.

This year’s edition promises another thrilling chapter in the Philippines’ storied legacy in billiards, as a new generation of players looks to carve their place in history.
“We know the level of competition is incredibly high, but our players are ready,” said a representative from the Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines. “They’re carrying the hopes of the nation.”
As the global spotlight shines on Jeddah, all eyes in the Philippines will be on their cue masters—armed with skill, legacy, and the fighting spirit to chase world championship glory once again.
