Manny Pacquiao, widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters of the past three decades, is stepping back into the ring on Saturday, July 19, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time (8 a.m. Sunday in Manila).
The 46-year-old Pacquiao is coming out of retirement to challenge Mario Barrios, who will be defending his World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight title.
It’s been five years since Pacquiao last fought professionally—his most recent bout was in August 2021, when he lost to Yordenis Ugas in a World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight title fight.

Now, Pacquiao is aiming to accomplish what many consider unthinkable for his age: defeating a 30-year-old reigning champion and reclaiming a world title.
A victory would further cement Pacquiao’s legendary status, as he seeks to break his own record as the oldest boxer to win a welterweight championship.
“I’ve been a challenger many times, and it’s always the same feeling. I’m excited to take the belt. He’s a good fighter, but our job is to entertain the fans. We’re going to give them a real fight,” said Pacquiao.
Barrios was elevated to full WBC welterweight champion status last November, following a split draw against Abel Ramos that allowed him to retain the interim title.
