PHILIPPINE pride Alexandra Eala learned to be a better player after finishing her professional campaign in the first half of the year in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) as she competed for the first time in the main draw of Wimbledon Open recently.
The 20-year-old Eala said this a week after she arrived in Manila to reconnect with family, fans and supporters.
Competing against the top 100 players in the world this year gave Eala a chance to know her game and what she needs to improve on.
“The lessons I learned from them is what I learned about myself, when I play, how are my skills, what makes me go, and how to manage my nerves,” said Eala.
“I’ve learned to be brave, and try to be my best,” she added.
Eala reflected on her experiences in the past months during a meet-and-greet with fans and the media on Friday afternoon at the Radiance Hall of the Globe Tower in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
During the hourlong session, Eala unveiled a 12-inch Funko Pop-style toy figure of her that chief backer Globe Telecom crafted.
With Eala’s career earnings reaching $1.080 million, she is set to embark on a new journey in the second half of the year.
The US Open will be the main tournament that Eala will be preparing for when she leaves the country following a three-week vacation.
