San Miguel Beer will try to use the momentum of a bounce-back Game 2 win in the 49th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup Finals to grab a second straight victory against the TNT Tropang 5G and the upperhand in the series.
The Beermen and the Tropang 5G will be back on the floor in Game 3 on Friday at 7:30 p.m., also at the Big Dome on Friday.
Beermen coach Leo Austria said this after SMB tied the best-of-seven series with a 98-92 victory on Wednesday.
“We needed to bounce back. Now we have reduced the series to a best-of-five, the next game will be very important to us,” said Austria.
For Game 3, Austria said he will dig deep into his roster and find out if there are others who can step up, just like what Don Trollano did in Game 2.
Trollano provided relief and fresh legs to the Beermen’s tired and weary starters when he hit 12 of his game-high 22 points in the last period.
Because of this, the Beermen were able to capitalize on five big turnovers that TNT committed to shatter a 77-all deadlock in the opening minutes of the fourth.
“This is pivotal (Game 3). This is like a chess match. It will be more of a game of adjustments,” added Austria.
