NDRRMC raises ‘Red’ alert ahead of ‘Crising’

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) elevated its alert status from “Blue” to “Red” at noon on Thursday, in anticipation of the potential impacts of Tropical Depression “Crising” in a large portion of the country.

All detailed duty officers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and Philippine National Police (PNP) are now required to render duty at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center (NDRRMOC) in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

Technical staff from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Education (DepEd), and Department of Health (DOH) are likewise called to join these uniformed personnel.  

In its latest situation report, the NDRRMC said there were already three landslides and 19 flooded areas due to Crising and the Southwest Monsoon in Central Visayas.

PAGASA raised Signal No. 1 in several Luzon areas as the said tropical depression maintained its strength on Thursday morning.
