Strong Group Athletics-Philippines leaned on a strong performance from Andre Roberson to secure a 79–67 victory over the Japan Developmental Team on Monday night at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in Taiwan.
The win marked Strong Group’s second consecutive triumph in the 2025 William Jones Cup, boosting their momentum early in the tournament.
Roberson, a former Oklahoma City Thunder standout, delivered an all-around performance with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, 14 rebounds, and five blocks to lead the Philippine side.
Filipino-American guard DJ Fenner provided steady support, finishing with 14 points and eight rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double. Javi Gomez de Liaño also made a key contribution with 13 points, while Rhenz Abando filled the stat sheet with 11 points, six boards, three assists, two steals, and a block.
Import forward Tajuan Agee chipped in 10 points to round out a balanced scoring effort for Strong Group.
The team opened its campaign with a gritty 67–56 comeback win over Chinese Taipei-Blue, setting the tone for what they hope to be a dominant run in the prestigious invitational tournament.
