Coach Chot Reyes’ fifth technical foul during the best-of-seven semifinals series of the TNT Tropang 5G with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters has gotten him suspended.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said Reyes will not be around in Game 5 on Friday in the 49th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
The last straw for Reyes came some five minutes into Game 3 for resenting to a call.
Marcial explained that Reyes will miss one game.
Reyes’ absence comes at time when the Tropang 5G are having manpower issues, with Kelly Williams and Calvin Oftana needing time to recover from their respective injuries.
Williams, who is a doubtful starter in Game 5, sprained his ankle in the first half of Game 4, but the Tropang 5G still pulled through with a 108-92 blasting of the Painters at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Oftana, who hurt his left ankle in the quarterfinals, suffered pain on his right ankle early in the fourth quarter of Game 4, and got subbed out.
But Oftana hopes to play in Game 5.
