Anker recalls power banks over risks

Anker Innovations has issued a global voluntary recall of specific power bank models, including those sold in the Philippines, due to a potential safety hazard linked to lithium-ion battery cells.

The company said the batteries may overheat in certain conditions, posing a risk of fire or burns, though the likelihood of malfunction remains low. The recall was launched as a precaution and is part of Anker’s strengthened quality control measures.

Customers are advised to check their device’s model and serial number and visit anker.com/mmrc2506-form to verify eligibility for recall. If confirmed, they should stop using the product immediately and await instructions for return and replacement.

Anker is coordinating with the Department of Trade and Industry and other agencies to ensure compliance. Customers can return units to designated outlets nationwide or arrange a free courier pickup by emailing support@anker.com.
