A total of 340 students from the municipality of Kapalong, Davao del Norte were hired to work in various government offices and other private partner institutions under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said.
“Each beneficiary will receive a daily wage of P553 during their deployment across various offices and institutions within the municipality,” the DOLE said.
SPES is a youth employment initiative implemented by the DOLE that offers short-term employment to financially challenged but deserving students aimed to help support their education while providing them with practical work experience.
Out of more than 1,100 applicants, 445 students advanced to the interview stage, of which, 340 were eventually selected.
To prepare the students for their assignments, DOLE Davao Del Norte, in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Kapalong, conducted an orientation on 4 June 2025, formally introducing the goals and expectations of the program.
To ensure workplace readiness, DOLE personnel facilitated a life skills session focused on core values, such as professionalism, responsibility, and strong work ethics in public service.
