The Southern Police District (SPD) reported Friday that operatives from the Makati City Police Station apprehended three suspects involved in the recent theft and destruction of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) electrical and data infrastructure at the Guadalupe footbridge.
In a news release, the SPD said the suspects were two males and a female—all in their 20s and unemployed. They were caught in the act of cutting the wires following a tip received by authorities on June 20, 2025, according to police reports.
“Recovered from their possession were assorted cut-off electrical wires and several cutting tools. The suspects are currently under custody at Substation 7, Makati (City Police Station),” the SPD said.
The cable wires were attached to closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed by the MMDA in its implementation of the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP). Total estimated damage reached P104,000 because of the incident.
Acting SPD Director Brigadier Gen. Randy Arceo commended the immediate and coordinated action of Makati City Police Station in line with the “5-Minute Response” policy of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III.
