The Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO) offered to host additional police outposts within its premises to enhance security and support investor confidence in the Casiguran-based economic zone.
APECO president and chief executive Gil Taway IV made the proposal during a meeting with Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Nicolas Torre III on June 17, 2025 at Camp Crame, Quezon City.
The initiative is part of APECO’s push to create a safer environment for locators, investors, and nearby communities.
Taway also cited the ecozone’s unique potential as a police training ground, given its mix of land and coastal features suitable for both field and maritime exercises.
He said APECO’s wide open spaces and relative isolation make it ideal for tactical drills and disaster response simulations. The two officials also discussed the possibility of establishing a PNP training center in the area through a usufruct arrangement.
