BTS Suga donates to establish Autism Treatment Center in Seoul

BTS member Suga has donated ₩5 billion (approximately $3.6 million) to Yonsei Severance Hospital to fund the establishment of a new treatment facility dedicated to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

On Sunday, the hospital announced that the new “Min Yoon Gi Treatment Center,” named after Suga’s birth name, held its groundbreaking ceremony on June 23.

The center will offer long-term support for patients with ASD through behavioral, psychological, and language therapies, while also integrating clinical care with research.

Suga, who began working with Severance Hospital’s Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in late 2023, also helped develop the MIND program, short for Music, Interaction, Network, and Diversity. The initiative aims to improve social communication skills and foster community inclusion through music-based therapy.

“I’ve come to deeply realize that music can be a valuable channel for expressing one’s heart and communicating with the world,” Suga said in a statement.

“It has been a great honor and happiness to take part in this process,” he added.

Professor Chun Geun Ah, who leads the department, praised Suga for his financial contribution as well as his hands-on involvement, noting his “consistent sincerity” and “thoughtful attitude.”
