Marcos asked to review Konektadong Pinoy bill

The Philippine Communications and Telecommunications Operators (PCTO) is strongly urging President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to exercise caution and reconsider the “Konektadong Pinoy Bill” before signing it into law.

While acknowledging the bill’s well-intentioned goal of enhancing internet connectivity across the Philippines, PCTO said concerns are mounting that its current form could inadvertently create more problems than it solves, potentially weakening investment, introducing unfair rules and compromising the long-term security and sustainability of the nation’s digital infrastructure.

PCTO said there are several critical realities and concerns they hope the government’s would fully appreciate as they consider the “Konektadong Pinoy Bill.”

“First, we welcome competition. We are all for reform. But real change – and genuine competition – means the same rules for all players, and smart safeguards for all Filipinos,” the group said.
