Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna has issued a warning against individuals falsely soliciting funds under the guise of the city’s Office for Muslim Affairs.
This advisory comes as the city observes Ramadan, with Lacuna reaffirming her support for the Muslim community.
To clarify official representation, Lacuna announced Moh’d Yamen Datu Zacaria as the newly appointed Officer-In-Charge of the Office of Muslim Affairs, effective immediately. She stressed that any transactions conducted with the previous officer after June 30, 2024, are unauthorized and not affiliated with the Manila city government.
Additionally, Lacuna clarified that the Facebook page “Office of the Mayor- Manila Muslim Affairs” is not an official platform representing the office. She emphasized that all legitimate communications will be channeled through Zacaria’s leadership.
Lacuna assured Manila’s Muslim community that her administration, through Zacaria, will remain open to suggestions and collaborative efforts to foster an inclusive environment for residents and visitors of the Islamic faith.
