The leadership of the 6th Infantry Division (Kampilan), Philippine Army, and Joint Task Force Central (JTFC) pledged to uphold the security of the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE), along with the historic first-ever elections for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
This commitment was made by Major General Antonio G. Nafarrete PA, Commander of the 6ID and JTFC, during the Regional Joint Security Control Center (RJSCC) meeting led by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) at Camp Siongco on November 4, 2024.
Maj. Gen. Nafarrete emphasized that the Division is actively preparing security measures to address potential challenges during the elections.
Among the key actions being taken are comprehensive risk assessments to identify high-risk areas and strengthened coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and COMELEC, as highlighted in the RJSCC meeting.
The 6ID Commander also shared that community engagement activities are already underway at the Brigade level to encourage public participation and ensure peaceful and orderly elections.
“Our primary focus is to ensure the safety and integrity of the 2025 elections, especially as BARMM holds its first parliamentary elections. The AFP remains committed to being apolitical, upholding a peaceful and credible electoral process in the region,” Nafarrete stated.
The RJSCC meeting was attended by COMELEC Chairman Hon. George Erwin Garcia, who expressed confidence in the ability of the AFP and PNP to facilitate a smooth and secure election in BARMM.
Additionally, the meeting marked the first day of filing for Certificates of Candidacy (COC) for the BARMM parliamentary elections, which will continue until November 9, 2024.
