The 2024 China Film Festival, hosted by the Chinese Embassy, in collaboration with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) was officially launched in Manila on Oct. 24, 2024.
Around 300 attendees from diverse backgrounds attended the opening ceremony.
The festival, which started in 2022, aims to enrich the local cinema landscape with films that feature rich themes and excellent production values.
It serves as a platform for Filipino audiences to gain insights into Chinese culture and storytelling.
Chinese Embassy Charge D’Affaires Zhou Zhi Yong and FDCP chairperson Jose Reyes delivered speeches, emphasizing the role of films in fostering understanding and friendship between the two nations.
They highlighted how films act not only as entertainment but also as a bridge to cultural appreciation.
This year’s festival features five exceptional films, including the “Miracle: Stupid Child” which will be showcased across Metro Manila and Laguna province.
The initiative is supported by the China Movie Archive, Philippine Mega World Corp and Beijing Taige Movie and Television Corp.
The 2024 China Film Festival is set to be an exciting celebration of cinema, aimed at captivating audiences and enhancing the relationship between the Philippines and China.
