The Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings have advanced to the semifinals of the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup after defeating the Meralco Bolts 113-106 in Game 3, sweeping their best-of-five quarterfinal series.
Key performances in the final quarter helped seal the win, with Stephen Holt scoring 10 of his 19 points in the last 12 minutes. Justin Brownlee led Ginebra with a game-high 23 points, while RJ Abarrientos added 17, and Japeth Aguilar contributed 19.
Holt and Brownlee made crucial plays in the final minutes, including free throws that sealed the victory. Ginebra coach Tim Cone expressed surprise at sweeping the series, praising his team’s resilience.
Ginebra now awaits the winner of the San Miguel vs. Converge series for their best-of-seven semifinal matchup, with San Miguel currently leading 2-1.
