Signal No. 4 raised in Batanes as ‘Julian’ intensifies 

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 over Batanes as Typhoon ‘Julian’ moves closer to the province. 

Based on its 8:00 PM weather bulletin on Sunday evening, PAGASA said the storm is expected to further intensify in the next 48 hours before making its landfall over southern Taiwan.

The state weather bureau said it may still reach super typhoon category and will pass near or over Batanes during its intensification period. According to PAGASA, ‘Julian’ is forecast to move generally westward through Tuesday morning over the Balintang and Bashi Channels. 

“On the track forecast, the typhoon will make landfall or pass very close to Batanes tomorrow (30 September) morning or afternoon,” the state weather bureau noted. 

Signal No. 3 is raised over the Babuyan Islands; Signal No. 2 on mainland Cagayan, Apayao and Ilocos Norte; and Signal No. 1 on Ilocos Sur, La Union, Abra, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Benguet, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and the northern and central portions of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao, Maria Aurora, Baler).
