In 1960s England, charismatic politician Jeremy Thorpe (Hugh Grant) has set his sights on becoming Prime Minister. But he has a secret: a past affair with young stablehand Norman Scott (Ben Whishaw), which threatens to unravel his carefully constructed life. Desperate to save his career and reputation, Thorpe plots to silence Scott for good. What follows is a shocking true story of ambition, betrayal, and a desperate cover-up that would become one of the most infamous scandals in British history.

Season 2: A Very British Scandal (2022)

as the Duke and Duchess of Argyll

The three-part mini-series takes audiences back to the 1960s again, this time focusing on the scandalous divorce of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll: Ian Campbell (Paul Bettany) and Margaret Campbell (Claire Foy). Their rocky marriage was mired with accusations of infidelity, forgery, and theft. When the inevitable divorce proceedings came, it turned into a sensational public spectacle after the Duke used Margaret’s private Polaroid photographs against her. The compromising images painted the Duchess as a scandalous figure and forever altered the course of the couple’s lives.

Season 3: A Very Royal Scandal (2024)

The series follows ‘Newsnight’ journalist Emily Matalis (Ruth Wilson) and her controversial 2019 BBC interview with Prince Andrew (Michael Sheen), which tackled the royal’s ties with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The three-part series chronicles Matalis’s dogged determination to secure the interview, the tense encounter, and the devastating fallout that forced the Duke of York to step back from royal duties. A Very Royal Scandal offers a gripping insider’s look at this pivotal moment, as the series is executive produced by Emily Matalis herself.

This compelling anthology now streams on Lionsgate Play through PLDT Home and Smart.
