Exciting Racing Action at Clark International Speedway This Saturday

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is continuing where it left off last July as the second leg of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippine Cup (TGR Philippine Cup) is set for this Saturday, September 28, at the Clark International Speedway. This event promises thrilling racing action and thrilling festivities throughout the day, showcasing Toyota’s commitment to the spirit of ‘FUN TO DRIVE’.

Since its inception in 2014 as the Vios Cup, the TGR Philippine Cup has spotlighted the capabilities of the locally manufactured Vios. This year’s event features two exhilarating race formats: the Sprint Race, a fast-paced 12-lap or 30-minute competition, and the Endurance Race, a grueling 1.5-hour challenge, with categories including Novice Class, Promotional Class, Sporting Class, and Super Sporting Class.

TMP President Masando Hashimoto will return to the track in the Novice Class, having already made his racing debut during the first leg of the series. He will be joined by emerging talents such as Reph Bangsil, Lexi Mendiola, media racers Jamil Lacuna, Jose Altoveros, Pablo Salapantan, John Rey San Diego, and sim racer Russel Reyes, who recently placed third at the TGR GT Cup. Returning for another round are Team TGR Philippines racers Ryan Agoncillo and Troy Montero, competing in the Sporting and Super Sporting Classes, respectively, alongside newcomer Kody Ng, selected through a driver tryout.

Fans can look forward to an electrifying atmosphere as Toyota car clubs bring their GR performance cars to the tracks, allowing enthusiasts to revel in the roar of engines and the sight of these high-performance vehicles in action. A special driving exhibition featuring professional drifters will showcase the GR 86’s capabilities, with lucky audience members getting the chance to ride along for an unforgettable experience.

Sim racing fans can test their skills at the TGR GT Cup experience booth, vying for prizes by setting their fastest lap times. Additionally, attendees can enjoy free giveaways, official GR merchandise for sale, and a live musical performance to cap off the event. Best of all, admission to the TGR Philippine Cup is FREE!

TMP Vice President for Marketing Services, Mr. Elvin Luciano, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “The fun never stops with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing! Through events like the TGR Philippine Cup, we aim to foster the growth of motorsports in the Philippines and provide fans with unforgettable experiences on the track.”

The TGR Philippine Cup is supported by Petron as the Official Fuel & Lubricants Partner, GT Radial as the Official Tire Partner, and Seiko as the Official Timekeeper, along with various sponsors including Toyota Financial Services Philippines and myTOYOTA Wallet.
