Soft Tennis Pilipinas etched its name in history by securing a bronze medal in the Men’s Team Event at the 17th World Soft Tennis Championships in Anseong, Korea, on Monday, September 9, 2024 (Philippine Time).
The men’s Soft Tennis Team, comprised of Joseph Arcilla, Dheo Talatayod, Patrick Mendoza, Adjuthor Moralde II, Samuel Nuguit, and Sherwin Nuguit, under the guidance of coaches Wenifredo De Leon and Michael Enriquez and team manager Jaekoo Yoon, achieved the feat.
It was the first time Soft Tennis Pilipinas has bagged a medal in the Team Event at the World Championships, marking a historic victory for the Philippine Men’s Soft Tennis National Team, led by PSTA President Lt. Col. Bobby Moran.
The current men’s team has joined the ranks of Soft Tennis Pilipinas’ World Medalists, alongside Josephine Paguyo’s Bronze in Women’s Singles (1995), Joseph Arcilla’s Bronze in Men’s Singles (2011), and Bien Zoleta’s Bronze in Women’s Singles (2015).
Soft Tennis Pilipinas stands out as the sole country in Southeast Asia to have won a medal among the 31 participating countries with 380 athletes in this World Championships Tournament.
