The OMODA C5 luxury compact crossover SUV has made waves in the automotive industry by earning a prestigious 5-Star Safety Certification from the ASEAN New Car Assessment Programme (ASEAN NCAP). This certification, awarded during a media conference in Kuala Lumpur on August 13, marks a significant milestone as the first joint 5-Star safety test between China and Malaysia.
With an impressive score of 88.64 points, the OMODA C5 set a new benchmark for safety in its segment. The SUV excelled in critical areas, achieving full marks in 11 out of 18 test categories, particularly in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP), and Safety Assist (SA). These results underscore the vehicle’s robust safety features and its competitive edge in the automotive market.
The AOP test revealed that the OMODA C5 offers excellent protection for drivers, with adequate support for the chest and lower legs. Its construction incorporates high-strength steel for 78% of its body, enhancing stability during impact. Key areas are reinforced with ultra-high-strength steel, providing exceptional protection—a “golden armor” for occupants.
Additionally, the OMODA C5 features an innovative “caged energy absorption” design, which optimizes energy dispersion during collisions. This system minimizes impact forces transmitted to occupants, ensuring their safety.
The vehicle also scored highest in the Safety Assist category, equipped with 16 advanced safety features, including a 360° panoramic camera and adaptive cruise control. These technologies work in tandem to alert drivers to potential hazards, making safe driving intuitive and seamless.
The OMODA C5’s 5-Star certification follows similar accolades from the European and Australasian NCAP, reflecting the brand’s commitment to global safety standards. “Securing the ASEAN NCAP safety rating highlights our dedication to safety and innovation,” said Marco Chen, Country Director for OMODA+JAECOO Philippines.
Pre-orders for the OMODA C5 will begin this September during various mall activations in Metro Manila.
