The City Government of Caloocan has prepared its countermeasures against monkeypox (mpox), a highly contagious viral illness, as the number of active cases in the country rises.
Both the City and Hospital Epidemiology Surveillance Units (CESU and HESU), with hotline number +63 929 709 5709, have been activated to initiate mpox countermeasures, in addition to organizing an Mpox response team composed of infectious disease and pathology experts.
The city government is also set to conduct online lecture sessions to further disseminate information regarding the illness.
City Mayor Dale Gonzalo Malapitan assured his constituents that the city government has been proactive in implementing initiatives to prevent possible infections in the city, but added that his administration is prepared for any eventualities just in case.
While there are no active cases in Caloocan, the city government is closely monitoring and has implemented quarantine procedures for three residents who were determined to be close contacts of an index case.
