Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. has submitted an unsolicited proposal to the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Board, led by Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr., for a bulk water supply project aimed at addressing the growing water needs of the province.
The Build-Own-Operate (BOO) project would provide additional water sources to municipalities lacking existing providers, with the Iloilo Provincial Government reselling the bulk water to distributors or third parties.
The proposal is currently under review, according to Defensor. “We are still evaluating the proposal, and this is not the right time to discuss it further,” the governor said.
“This project, if approved, will ultimately benefit municipalities that don’t have existing water providers, working under the premise that no water is still more expensive than expensive water,” said Iloilo 3rd District Board Member Jason Gonzales, who disclosed the information in a Facebook post.
Aboitiz InfraCapital is the infrastructure arm of the Aboitiz Group of Companies.
