The Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to encourage private sector participation in the national program addressing housing backlogs.
The partnership supports the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) program, a flagship initiative of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The MOU seeks to increase the involvement of the private sector in building socialized housing units and promoting equitable access to affordable and decent housing, particularly for low-income families and marginalized groups.
Both parties agreed to cooperate on several key initiatives under the agreement and subject to their respective mandates, available resources and applicable laws. These include conducting roadshows through PCCI local chambers to promote the 4PH program and generate income for local chambers through sponsorships.
The MOU also leverages PCCI’s international network to identify potential international funders for the 4PH program.
Signatories to the MOU are also expected to collaborate with the PCCI’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) committee to ensure the long-term sustainability of housing projects under the 4PH program.
The MOU encourages all partners to participate in gathering input and suggestions from the private sector to enhance and refine the 4PH program.
The 4PH program aims to address the housing needs of over 6 million families in the Philippines by 2028.
