With dengue cases skyrocketing across Iloilo, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan has declared the entire province under a state of calamity on Tuesday, triggering an urgent response to combat the deadly outbreak.
According to data presented by the Provincial Health Office (PHO), the province recorded 5,836 cases of dengue as of August 17, resulting in 12 fatalities, including two recently reported by the PHO.
In response to this escalating health crisis, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) has requested P13,600,000.
These funds will be allocated to the PHO and provincial hospitals for the purchase of essential supplies needed to manage and control the outbreak.
