Around a thousand Filipino troops had already benefited in different exercises with foreign allies, an Army official said on Monday.
Philippine Army Spokesperson Colonel Louie Dema-ala told Manila Standard that the training exercises between the Philippine Army, U.S. Army, as well as with Manila’s foreign defense partners enhances their forces’ tactics, techniques and procedures across a wide range of military operations.
“These also enhance interoperability and support the capability development of participating units and personnel,” he said.
Dema-ala also noted that an exchange of information exposes Philippine troops to advanced capabilities and technologies.
“This will be beneficial to the Philippine Army as it embarks on shifting its focus from internal security to territorial defense operations.”
Dema-ala however did not disclose the number of deployed US equipment in the country but he said those equipment are land forces capabilities such as High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).
